As we head towards the end of Autumn, it seems unbelievable that another wedding season has flown by. Looking back on the summer months, we’ve had an incredible time working with fantastic clients and creating weddings that have exceeded even our own expectations. It’s been busy, exhilarating and even frenetic, but always a whole lot of fun.

The cooler months might be approaching, but that’s certainly not dampening the spirits of this busy industry. Feel inspired and invigorated by our latest newsletter, which is packed with beautiful celebrations and must-know trends and ideas. With so much on the go, it seems that Winter can only hold even more excitement in store!

If you’re in the know, then you’ve probably heard of some of our latest weddings through the grapevine. In the space of three weeks, we coordinated three major society weddings, each distinguished by its style, sophistication and extensive guest list. Curious? Why not take a peek...

On 28 March 2009 millions of people across the world turned off their lights to recognise Earth Hour, a united appeal for world leaders to address global warming. We may have been coordinating a wedding at the time, but that didn’t stop our bridal couple from doing their bit for the planet. It did mean that speeches were made in the dark, but like the guests, we applauded the sentiment behind the gesture.

It’s so nice to gloat a little every now and then, and this month we feel entirely justified in doing so! In one week we appeared in no less than four newspapers and were praised as being South Africa’s top wedding coordinators. We also made an appearance in several magazines, such as Wine Magazine, Wedding Flowers and Hochzeits Journal. We’re really loving the limelight...

A couple of years ago pre-ceremony drinks meant iced water and sparkling grape juice. Today they’re a lot more laid back, with glasses of bubbly and the latest trend, wine cocktails, being served to the arriving guests. We like this modern approach, which sets a relaxed tone for the celebrations that lie ahead.

We might be in the midst of a global recession, but that’s not stopping the rise of opulence, one of the hottest wedding trends this season. It’s all about indulging in lavish luxuries and escaping to a world where credit crunches and deficits are nothing but a vague memory. The trend takes many forms – some couples want to do everything on a colossal scale, with huge guest lists, five course meals and several forms of entertainment, while others prefer to make every detail count (think real crystal glassware, designer wedding favours and only authentic French champagne). The message is loud and clear: more is more!

If you really want to get the party started, then it’s time to get a live bar. This cool entertainment concept consists of a mobile bar which is wheeled onto the dance floor at around midnight, offering revelers wicked concoctions such as Red Bull and Vodka. Our personal party trick? Serving slices of thin crusted pizza to keep the energy levels going strong.

We love the beautiful new wedding and events venue that was recently launched at MolenVliet Wine & Guest Estate. Set in the beautiful Banhoek Valley outside Stellenbosch, MolenVliet boasts some of the most enchanting scenery in the Cape winelands. We like to be ahead of things (naturally!) and we’ve already coordinated a very special wedding at this venue, and look forward to many more.

There is a new measure of luxury in Cape Town, and it’s called the One and Only Hotel. Launched at the beginning of April, this exclusive five star hotel is the brainchild of hotelier Sol Kerzner and is perfectly located in the Cape Town Waterfront. A host of celebrities attended the launch, including Sharon Stone and Clint Eastwood. We can’t wait to try Maze, a Gordon Ramsay restaurant, or to visit the magnificent spa.

We’re delighted that in February one of our very own coordinators tied the knot! Rozanne and Jaco celebrated their big day in Paarl, and what a beautiful day it was. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
