Grey has become one of the biggest trends in the last year, proving that it’s far from being dull and dreary. We love the elegance of grey and how surprisingly versatile this colour can be. Create an edgy look with gun metal greys, stony slate and dramatic charcoal, set off with various shades of off-white. If you prefer a softer style, choose delicate dove greys and faded creams for a wonderfully timeless ambience. Grey also works exceptionally well with colour (especially if hints of green are included in the palette) but the most daring brides are going grey all the way!

This season it’s time to mix things up! The most fashionable bridesmaids are choosing their own dresses, as long as they are perfectly suited to the wedding’s theme. Not only does this create a much more individualistic and interesting look, it also allows bridesmaids to wear the shapes and cuts that are best suited to their figures. Whether you want to show off a great pair of legs or hide some bumps and bulges, it’s a look that suits everyone.

Sometimes the best venue can literally be on your doorstep. If you’re planning an intimate wedding, one of the hottest venue options is to host your special day at a private home. The advantage? Your venue hiring costs will be considerably lower, or you might even be lucky enough to have a relative or friend who will offer their beautiful home for free. In addition, you’re guaranteed to enjoy complete privacy and exclusivity.

These days it’s not just the bride who enjoys pre-wedding pampering; grooms are also indulging in some TLC! In keeping with this trend, many spas are offering treatments that are specially geared towards their male clientele. We recommend a classic Swedish body massage to get relaxed before the big day, coupled with a revitalising men’s facial. Lastly, a basic manicure is must for a neat, polished appearance.

Hotdogs, hamburgers and chips… these are all things that don’t have to appear on a modern kid’s menu. Perhaps it’s the influence of chefs such as Jamie Oliver, but there is simply no excuse for children’s food not to be healthy and delicious too. At the recent christening of Aleit and Madri’s beautiful baby daughter, Kateline, a tasty variety of snacks were prepared for all the younger guests. Watch out for a detailed behind-the-scenes look into the occasion on TV and a leading magazine!

Turquoise or teal? Daisies or damask? There are so many décor details to consider for your wedding that it can be quite daunting! One of the best ways to put together a look is to find images and fabric swatches that capture your style. Tear up magazines, browse through websites and even look at paint swatches for colour inspiration. Once you’ve got a good selection of pictures, put them in a scrapbook to take along to consultations with your coordinator and florist. It’ll help them to create moodboards that capture your look, and give you the assurance that the styling will be perfect.

We recently coordinated a gorgeous wedding in the scenic Swellendam countryside, and what a wedding it was! We can’t resist offering you a glimpse of the occasion, which was held on a beautiful family farm. Months of planning went into perfecting the day, and we also had to pull off some very careful logistical coordination. As the pictures show, the result was spectacular.
