Reinette and James met when Reinette was involved with a graphic design contract at the publishing company that James was working at. As James remembers, “we met in a lift, and Ray told me I should grow my hair into an afro. I wasn't convinced! From there we just hit it off.” James also made a strong impression on Reinette, who describes him as “the confident biker-boy with the crazy hair and the friendly smile.” With his comfortable nature and carefree attitude, the attraction was instant.
James fondly remembers the proposal, which took Reinette completely by surprise. “We were walking the dogs up a big hill with amazing views near my parents' house. Exhausted and out of breath, she said yes!”
The couple celebrated their wedding day at Tokara, where exquisite views of olive trees, vineyards and the surrounding countryside created an enchanting setting. James experienced the day as a true reflection of what he and Reinette are all about. “It was the most perfect day. Everything flowed and worked together. It all just blended into a day that perfectly complimented us.” Reinette treasures the small details and moments of the day, which made the experience as special as it was. “I would not change a thing, from James changing his mind on meeting arrangements at the last minute to the Minister getting our names wrong during the ceremony. Everything happened as it should have: perfectly. It is the little imperfections that make anything unique and perfect in its own right.”
It’s always difficult to mention the most special moment of the day, but James will never forget seeing Reinette walking up the aisle, as well as when they walked into the dining room at Tokara to the sounds of their favourite song, Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros. “Everyone turned, looked at us and stood up.” Reinette also has magical memories of the moment. “It was by far the most humbling moment in my life and a memory that will stick with me forever. To be loved and feel love from friends and family is truly the ultimate blessing.”
Reinette and James were thrilled with the planning experience, which helped to put every detail in place. “Aleit and the rest of the Aleit gang were superb all the way from the initial consultation to the day itself.” They also valued our personal approach to coordination, which focuses on the unique needs and personalities of each couple. “Everything that we wanted (or didn't want!) they understood. Aleit and his team have such passion and pride in their work, they will go out of their way to make your wedding true to you. It is the love for what they do, on to the smallest detail, that proved their biggest talent.”
The honeymoon was delightfully laid back, the perfect time for the couple to celebrate time together as newlyweds. “We stayed at The Long Beach in Kommetjie for two nights which was all arranged by Dream Destinations. It was perfect relaxation in perfect surroundings.”
