team heading

He’s an innovator, a perfectionist and a creative whiz. He loves to work with people and discover new things, and he can’t wait to show off his latest trend-setting ideas. Of course, he’s also the founder of The Aleit Group, South Africa’s premier wedding and events coordination consultancy. Aleit is an expert in his field and has helped to put South Africa on the map as an international wedding destination. Admired for his boundless energy and enthusiasm, he’s become something of a local celebrity and never ceases to delight his enchanted clients.

Aleit built his career in the hospitality industry where he worked in several up-market hotels in South Africa and also managed a five-star restaurant in the Stellenbosch wine district. He later honed his organising abilities in the visitors’ division of South Africa’s largest wine company, gaining valuable experience in the corporate field. To top it off, he also completed a business degree and became a member of the Public Relations Institute of South Africa. In this period Aleit was involved in over two hundred weddings and corporate functions, a paltry sum compared to the number that he’s coordinated over the years.

In 2002 he established Aleit Wedding and Function Coordination, driven by his passion for wedding planning and the chance to work with interesting people every day. With his combination of fresh thinking and industry experience, Aleit soon earned a reputation for creating bespoke events that capture his clients’ individuality. The company grew at a phenomenal pace and established an international client base which still accounts for 70% of business. In 2006 it had grown to such an extent that it became The Aleit Group, which consists of the following divisions:

• Aleit Wedding Coordination, South Africa’s leading wedding planning consultancy;
• Aleit Munich, the company’s first international branch which brings the brand to the European market;
• Aleit Event Projects, which serves the corporate world’s need for slick, sophisticated events;
• Aleit Shop, an online shop which specialises in bespoke wedding gifts;
• Aleit Music and Entertainment, which provides live music and DJ services to events;
• Aleit Bridal and Styling, a personalised styling service for bridal couples;
• The Aleit Academy, South Africa’s most comprehensive events coordination course.

Aleit attributes his success to his energetic and talented team of planners, as well as his extensive network of top suppliers (many of whom he counts as close friends). He’s proudly South African and tirelessly promotes the spectacular venues that the country offers, from historic wine farms and endless white beaches to luxurious game lodges.

Known for his charm and gregarious personality, Aleit has been featured in several publications and shows in his personal capacity, including My Week and Tuine en Tossels on Kyknet. When he’s not answering emails, meeting with clients or perfecting the tiniest of details at a wedding, you’ll find Aleit with his wife, entertaining family and friends at their beautiful home (the dinner parties are legendary). He also enjoys trawling antique shops for special pieces, travelling to interesting places or simply kicking back with a good book. Aleit’s secret talent? He’s a talented Tango dancer.

Today The Aleit Group is the most published wedding and events coordination company in South Africa, and boasts regular appearances on lifestyle shows such as Top Billing and Pasella. Aleit also launched his first book in 2007, 100 Words about Weddings, which became an instant best-seller. As always, he’s got plenty of ideas lined up for the future (watch this space!), but remains devoted to his love for creating exquisite weddings. As Aleit puts it, “we all look forward to making a fabulous contribution to your special day or event - a unique, one-of-a-kind expression of your dreams and personality.”

Creative Director

Growing up in the heart of the Limpopo Province, Johnny moved to Stellenbosch to follow his passion for creating beautiful designer food. He completed his studies at the Institute of Culinary Arts in 2003 and garnered enviable experience at Mount Grace, Franschhoek and in Namibia. It didn't take long for Johnny’s natural flair and creativity to get noticed, and he soon took up a position at By Word of Mouth, the leading and world renowned catering and events company in Johannesburg. Here he had the chance to show off his talent for creating fashionable menus, fabulous food and snazzy event concepts. His magazine shoots – absolutely amazing. Keen to attain international exposure, Johnny moved to North Carolina in 2007 where he worked as a pastry chef. The experience proved to be a rewarding one and in 2008 he returned to By Word of Mouth as their Creative Director.

Johnny is proud to have produced a dazzling portfolio of trend-setting concepts for weddings and corporate events, and his love and devotion for the industry has made him a valuable part of the Aleit family.

Perceptive, diligent and energetic, Chanel Ferreira is an expert at fine tuning the smallest details at events. With an honours degree in Brand Leadership, it's no wonder that she seized the chance to be a senior coordinator for The Aleit Group. Sales Executive

Ryno serves as Aleit's right-hand-man when it comes to signing The Aleit Group's prestigious clients. Exuding great confidence and the friendliest, most professional demeanour, he is an over-achiever that is dedicated, driven and analytical. These characteristics contribute to him achieving his goals without fail each and every time.

From his first encounter with the company while attending a wedding Aleit had arranged, he was drawn towards their professionalism and outstanding work ethic. "It encompassed so many of the attributes I hold dear and practice in my everyday life." says Ryno.

Ryno Bakkes was born in the Eastern Cape and at a very early age his family and friends realised he was destined for exciting things. After matriculating in 2003, he decided to study MBChB (medicine) at the University of the Free State. Ryno soon realized this was not for him and after completing the year, he went backpacking through Europe. This kept him on foreign shores for two years before returning to South Africa to complete a B.Sc degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Stellenbosch in 2009. He then started his postgraduate in LLB and is currently pursuing this degree via UNISA whilst working for The Aleit Group.

Ryno brings a fresh burst of energy to the team with his zest for life and his 'always ready to lend a hand' attitude. "I am so privileged to start my career in the most interesting of environments, learning from the best and constantly being challenged to be the best. I love it!"

Personal Assistant to Aleit

Jeanne-Loïs, (aka JLo as her name is a tad longwinded), is a born and bred Capetonian. After acquiring a degree in Drama at Stellenbosch University, working in London and travelling until her heart was content, she felt good about 'settling down' down and is delighted to find herself working as personal assistant to Aleit.

JLo is enthusiastic, hard-working and just a wee bit whimsical. She loves all things creative; from performing, fashion and writing to decorating, photography and clothing design. She's a bit 'obsessive-compulsive' when it comes to shopping, but as this 'bad habit' started at a young age she's given up on trying to change and now terms it her 'indispensable skill'. Amen! She loves surrounding herself with beautiful objects and as a result, feels totally at home within the welcoming surroundings of The Aleit Group - a company that creates beauty which others love.

"I know I'm currently in the right place because at the end of each day I feel inspired; inspired to be innovative, to be creative and to push boundaries. Most of all I'm inspired to be the best I can be. What really makes me proud to be part of this team is that The Aleit Group stays uncompromisingly true to the highest standards and never settles for being anything less than the best - the trendsetter of the industry. And of course, like most girls, I'm a sucker for romance and feel honoured to have a small but important part to play in these amazing celebrations of love."

Strategic and Legal Advisor

A multitalented legal whiz – that’s Adele Hertzog, our Strategic and Legal Advisor. Not only did she complete an LLB degree at Stellenbosch University in 2003, she was also crowned Miss Namibia 2004, presenting her with the fantastic opportunity to attend the Miss World and Miss Universe pageants in China and Thailand.

Adele later decided to pursue her career in law and worked in Potchefstroom and Pretoria. In 2006 she married the love of her life, asking no other than Aleit and his team to coordinate the special celebration. The cherry on top? It was Aleit’s first wedding at the prestigious Webersburg Wine Estate. When Adele and her husband moved back to the beautiful Cape in 2008, she knew it was time for a career change. Aleit offered her a position and she jumped at the opportunity, impressed by the team who handled her wedding to perfection and with whom she’d become steadfast friends.

Working for The Aleit Group couldn’t have suited Adele any better. Event planning is close to her heart - she recently started her own company that takes artists and musicians to Namibia. “I find my role as Aleit’s Strategic and Legal Advisor truly fulfilling and enjoyable!”

The ex-Miss Namibia (and also an ex-client of The Aleit Group) is a very proud mom with the cutest bambino ever. Be sure to check out her wedding photos! (view)
